About the event

Join Cara from your kitchen to try out a fun new recipe! This month,  Cara is sharing a balancing Ayurvedic staple, Kitchari! 

Kitchari is said to be balancing for all Ayurvedic Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) or constitutions. Kitchari is also a delicious Indian flavored stew that is high in protein, vegan/gluten free, easy to digest, and perfect to cozy up with on a Winter day. 

This class will be recorded & the replay will be emailed to those who can't make it to the livestream. 

Tools you may need Knife & cutting board, large pot with lid, medium sauce pan. 

Ingredient list  1/2 cup Basmati or Jasmine rice, 1 cup mung dal (yellow split pea), 1 inch ginger root, 2 tbsp Ghee/butter/coconut oil, 

SPICES - 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1/2 tsp whole cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp hing/asafetida. 

VEGETABLES - 1 or 2 cups of any chopped vegetables - Asaparagus, celery, broccoli, zucchini, swiss chard, kale, mushrooms, carrots, peas, cauliflower - or any of your favorites! 

OPTIONAL TOPPINGS - Cashews, fresh Cilantro, Salt, Pepper, Tamarind Sauce, favorite Chutney, plain yogurt.
