About the event
Join Cara from your kitchen to try out a fun new recipe that is sure to spice up your favorite recipes!Â
We will be creating some beautiful and super tasty Gourmet Finishing Salts that add depths of flavor to any recipe. This could also be a great holiday gift for the foodies in your life!Â
Tools you may need Knife & cutting board, grinder of some kind (old coffee grinder, blender, mortar & pestle, food processer - If you don't have any of those a cutting board and sharp knife will work), medium mixing bowl, 2-3 baking trays, parchment paper
Ingredient list - I'll offer a lot of suggestions and you can pick one or as many as you like, or even add in your own ingredients. I'll offer 3 different of my favorite recipes during our class but these are SO customizable. I like to make about 1 cup for each blend, which takes up about 1 large baking tray. So if making more than 1 blend, you will need more than 1 baking tray. You're also welcome to make smaller quantities. I'd highly recommend finding a store that has spices in a bulk section so you can purchase smaller quantities. Good Earth in Marin or Ward's Supermarket in Gainesville are two of my favorites!Â
SALTS - (Some of the salts are more expensive than others, we will be using smaller quantities of these. For each blend, we will use up to 1 cup of Kosher/Celtic/Pink Salts & up to 3 tablespoons of the fancier ones.)
Kosher/Celtic coarse sea salt, Himilayan Pink Salt, Smoked Salt, Hawaiian Black Salt, Hawaiian Red Alaea Salt
SPICES - (We will use up to 1 tablespoon for each blend we choose to put these in)
Pink/any color Peppercorns, smoked paprika, yellow mustard seeds, chili/red pepper flakes, garlic powder, anise seeds, fennel seeds
FRESH HERBS - (We will use up to 3 tablespoons for each blend we choose to put these in)Â
Thyme, Rosemary, Sage, Basil
FRUIT ZEST - (We will use up to 2 tablespoons for each blend we shoose to put these in)Â
Orange, Lemon, LimeÂ
Please reach out if you have any questions! I can't wait to get in the kitchen with you!
